In the fast paced world we live in, accidents can happen when we don’t take the time to slow down. In fact, a recent study regarding speed limits has proven that not slowing down can do much more damage when it comes to increased speed limits.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety conducted the study which included 41 different states over a 20 year period. Many factors were considered when the results were analyzed, and it was determined that the number of fatalities rose around 8 percent per 5 mph increase on interstates and freeways.
Some states have speed limits as high as 80mph, and the state of Texas actually contains some interstates with a legal speed limit at 85 mph!
