For many people, New Years is a time of celebration as we ponder upon the past year and look forward to a new one full of resolutions, goals and new beginnings.
Unfortunately, it’s also the time of year when many avoidable accidents occur. Most of these accidents could been prevented if some basic safety precautions were put into place.
Below are tips to make sure 2018 starts off on the right foot.
- Avoid driving between 8pm and 2am. This is when the majority of holiday drinking and driving accidents occur.
- If you’re going to a party and plan to consume alcohol, have a designated driver or plan to use Uber or Lyft to get home.
- If you’re hosting a party, take keys from guests who have consumed too much alcohol.
- Be cautious what you share on social media from the evening.
- If fireworks are in use, only allow an experienced person to handle them. A homeowner can be liable for any firework injury that happens on their property.
- Most pets are scared of fireworks. Your pet should be safely inside, with a tag and a chip in case they accidentally escape.
- If you go out, don’t go alone. Always stay in a group.
We wish you a fun, safe and accident-free New Year!
